First Cabinet Meeting

Governor Peter Shumlin met with his extended cabinet Friday morning and pledged to be a supportive and accessible leader.

The morning started off with coffee and pastries in the Cedar Creek Room of the State House. The dozens of secretaries, commissioners, and members of the governor's staff mingled and got to know each other. Walking around the room you could hear some really interesting conversations about things that are happening in state government right now and things in the future that people are really excited about.

We all moved into the governor's ceremonial office for the official meeting where Governor Shumlin laid out his vision for Vermont. He pledged to work side-by-side with his cabinet. He told them they have a tough job ahead but that he has every confidence they will accomplish great things for Vermont.

The governor's Chief of Staff, Bill Lofy, also spoke as well as Secretary of Civil and Military Affairs Alex MacLean and Secretary of Administration Jeb Spaulding. Spaulding resigned his post as state Treasurer Thursday afternoon and his now officially in his role as Administrtation Secretary.

We will have pictures and video of this morning's events posted shortly.

Now it's off to the governor's first press conference...
