(June 4, 2003) James Ehlers, a leading outdoor recreation advocate and organizer of the Lake Champlain International (LCI) annual Father's Day Fishing Derby, and Lt. Governor Brian Dubie showcase their catch of the day (a large lake trout) at an event to promote the annual derby. The LCI Father's Day Derby draws anglers and their families, numbering in the thousands, from all over the Northeast, and as far away as the West Coast and Europe. Estimates, based on a University of Vermont study, conclude the three-day event contributes $3 million in revenue to the region.

Lake Champlain International, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization leading the effort to conserve, restore and revitalize the Lake Champlain watershed and its communities providing great fishing opportunities, family events, economic opportunities for local communities and water quality awareness. Lake Champlain International, Inc. quality fishing events provide opportunities to fish, stimulate local economies, raise funds to support our mission, and educate participants on the importance of ethical angling. The organization is dedicated to catch-and-release angling and improving the quality of the lake's fish population.
