STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR PHIL SCOTT FOR THE NEW YEAR

December 29, 2017

Montpelier, Vt. –  Governor Phil Scott today issued the following statement.

“I’ve been honored to serve this great state and its people over the last year, and as we look to the start of 2018, I hope all Vermonters have a safe and happy New Year.

“I hope – if we all take one lesson away from 2017 – it’s that our nation needs all of us to show more civility and respect toward one another. As we plan our resolutions for the coming year, let’s consider a firm commitment to our Vermont values, and to the Golden Rule: Treating others as we want to be treated. Vermont has long been a leader in tolerance, acceptance, and in our ability to come together – a legacy that’s more important than ever to uphold.

“And, finally, as you celebrate New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day this weekend, please be safe, plan ahead, drive responsibly, and look out for your neighbors and pets as we continue to endure these cold temperatures.”
