Engineers Week
State of Vermont
Executive Department
A Proclamation
Whereas, engineers have used their scientific and technical knowledge and skills in creative and innovative ways to fulfill society’s needs for generations; and
Whereas, in Vermont, engineers face major technological challenges on a daily basis—from rebuilding towns devastated by flood, ice and natural disaster to designing an information superhighway that will help navigate our state and country through the twenty-first century; and
Whereas, Vermont’s engineers continue to inspire young math and science students to realize the practical power of their ideas; and
Whereas, we look more than ever to engineers to meet the challenges of the future;
Now, Therefore, I, Peter Shumlin, Governor, do hereby proclaim February 20-26, A.D. 2011 as
Engineers Week
in Vermont and urge all students to further their understanding of science,
technology, engineering and mathematics.
Given under my hand and the Great Seal of the State of
Vermont on this day of February, A.D. 2011.
