Entreprenuership Week
State of Vermont
Executive Department
A Proclamation
Whereas, a large percentage of new jobs created throughout the United States in the past decade have resulted from the creative efforts of entrepreneurs, who have contributed to the advancement of technology and fueled economic growth; and
Whereas, entrepreneurs have been a source of economic innovation, contributing new ways of doing things through their creative ideas; and
Whereas, entrepreneurs work to improve their local communities by enhancing opportunities for businesses to operate and by supporting the human resources needed to advance their ideas; and
Whereas, more than 70% of young people consider starting a business or doing something entrepreneurial as adults, and entrepreneurial awareness can assist them in the future whether they operate their own businesses or work in businesses owned by others; and
Whereas, encouraging youth to be excited about entrepreneurship; and working to expand the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of Vermont’s youth and adults to be successful entrepreneurs are crucial to the long-term growth of local communities, the state and the nation;
now, Therefore, I, Peter Shumlin, Governor, do hereby proclaim February 6-12, A.D. 2011 as
Entreprenuership Week
in Vermont and call upon Vermonters and Vermont businesses and organizations to celebrate our great entrepreneurial spirit by encouraging our youth to explore their ideas and pursue their goals.
Given under my hand and the Great Seal of the State of
Vermont on this day of February, A.D. 2011
