Governor Phil Scott and Commerce Secretary Michael Schirling Announce Launch of New Economic Development and Marketing Initiative, "ThinkVermont"

October 20, 2017

Essex Junction, Vt. – In a press conference Friday, Governor Phil Scott announced the launch of ThinkVermont.com, a new website that will connect existing and prospective Vermont businesses and workers to the resources and information they need to expand in or relocate to Vermont.

ThinkVermont is an economic development and marketing tool, created by the Agency of Commerce and Community Development (ACCD) to help retain and attract businesses and workers to the state. The website is one component of the Administration’s and Agency’s goal to grow Vermont’s economy by improving the symmetry of information and resources between the public and private sectors.

“We are focused on helping businesses launch and grow in Vermont as part of our role in strengthening the Vermont economy,” said Michael Schirling, Secretary of ACCD. "Equally important is launching a platform from which we can illuminate the full vibrancy of Vermont, our innovative nature, the breadth of our economy and the talent of our workforce."

Governor Scott and Secretary Schirling unveiled the new website at Vermont Tech Jam, an annual career and tech expo held at the Champlain Valley Exposition. Pointing out the variety of startup businesses represented at Tech Jam, the Governor noted that Vermont is the home base and testing ground for dozens of innovative and successful businesses. ThinkVermont.com will highlight the state’s many assets and advantages to living, working and doing business in Vermont.

“This site is an important resource as we work to grow our workforce and strengthen our economy,” said Gov. Scott. “On ThinkVermont.com, we can tell unique and positive stories about Vermonters and Vermont businesses, share success stories of how others have started and grown a company, found opportunities to advance their careers, and have stayed or moved here for good jobs in a full range of industries.”

The website features resources for learning more about Vermont’s key industries, and highlights funding and incentive programs, regional employers, communities, and job opportunities. The website—designed, built and maintained by ACCD staff—will become an increasingly valuable resource.
