Vermont’s $2.4 million disaster grant approved by FEMA

Gov. Shumlin Announces $2.2 million in Community Development Program
FEBRUARY 15 - MONTPELIER – Joined by community leaders and project organizers, Gov. Peter Shumlin today announced the award of $2.2 million in Vermont Community Development Program funding for affordable housing, economic development, and other local projects in six Vermont towns. Combined with other sources, these projects will leverage a total of $20.5 million in other public and private resources.
Gov. Shumlin signs ‘I Am Vermont Strong’ license plate bill
FEBRUARY 9 - MONTPELIER – Gov. Peter Shumlin today signed into law the ‘I Am Vermont Strong’ license plate bill, authorizing Vermonters to purchase the $25 plate and affix it to the front of their vehicles. Money raised by the sales will go to the Vermont Disaster Relief Fund to help people impacted by Tropical Storm Irene, as well as the Vermont Foodbank.

Peter Shumlin and legislative leaders today announced the inclusion of a "bronze plan" and a proposal to allow businesses with more than 50 employers to remain outside the Exchange until 2016. Portable Hospitals Enhance Statewide Public Health Response Capabilities
JANUARY 31 - BURLINGTON – A new 20-bed inflatable portable hospital and a mass care trailer stockpiled with medical and mass care supplies purchased by the Vermont Department of Health was on display Jan. 30 and 31 at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Jct. Hospital and public health responders attended a two-day training session on its functions, set-up, take-down and maintenance.
