Statement from Governor Phil Scott on the Shooting in Pittsburgh

October 28, 2018

Statement from Governor Phil Scott on the Shooting at Tree of Live Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania:

“Yet again, America is faced with heartbreak and grief following the horrific violence that took place at a synagogue in Pittsburgh. My sincerest sympathies go to the family and friends of the victims and to the Pittsburgh community.

“This tragedy was fueled by anger, hate and ignorance – sentiments that do not and cannot define us. We must come together, and put the work of extinguishing the embers of hate, bigotry and racism that inspired this violence ahead of partisanship and politics.

“To honor the victims, I’ve ordered all flags at State facilities to half-staff through October 31, 2018.”
