A Statement from Governor Phil Scott for Veterans Day

November 11, 2018

Governor Phil Scott today issued the following statement:

“Today is an important day in history. One hundred years ago, on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the first World War came to an end.

“So, today, we honor those who fought bravely in that war, and all wars since.

“That includes many Vermonters who’ve fought with honor and courage in defense of freedom, bringing the light of liberty and unity to parts of the world still darkened by oppression. I’m proud to count my father, Howard Scott, and grandfather, Clem Beckley, among them.

“As long as Vermonters continue to serve, and Americans continue to pledge their lives in the defense of others, we must pledge to do all we can to support them, to honor them, and to show our gratitude for all they do.

“Today for Veterans Day, I know I join all Vermonters in thanking, honoring and remembering our Veterans, and their families, for their service and sacrifice.”
