Department of Financial Regulation Reaches $1.8 Million Settlement in Student Health Insurance Matter

Today the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation (DFR) announced a $1.8 million settlement with Companion Life Insurance Company, of South Carolina, for selling unapproved and inadequate student health insurance policies to students at ten Vermont higher education institutions.

Vermont Receives Emergency Funding for Repairs to Federally Funded Highways Following Halloween Storm

The U.S. Department of Transportation has approved $500,000 in emergency relief funding following the Halloween rainstorm that left widespread damage throughout Vermont. These emergency funds will assist the Vermont Agency of Transportation in repairs to roads on the federal highway system damaged during the October 31-November 1 storm event.

Governor Phil Scott Announces Appointment of Heather Pelham as Department of Tourism and Marketing Commissioner

Governor Phil Scott today announced the appointment of Heather Pelham as the commissioner of the Department of Tourism and Marketing. Pelham has served as the deputy commissioner of the Department since March 2019 and prior to that served as the State’s chief marketing officer for four years.
